To answer your questions: The Qayllar stable is comprised of Wiraqocha sons who fail their manhood trials (Read the sequel series **Fallen Prince** for insight into what that experience is like) and men from neighboring tribes. The jungle surrounding the village is almost impenetrable due to the Booty Flowers and other tribes usually stay clear of them, but that doesn't stop the odd curious tribesman from falling prey to them or a foolish Chief from attempting to take the Wiraqocha's territory for themselves, with the surviving warriors becoming enslaved. Of course, sometimes if the stable numbers run low, Wiraqocha will simply take young men from their neighboring tribes; either by force or a wise Chief will avoid conflict and offer them as tribute. It wouldn't be till the 16th century (during the Age of Discovery) that the Wiraqocha would start encountering men who had traveled oceans only to find themselves caught in the Booty Flower nests. Typically, once transformed, all Qayllar look the same but over the centuries, men with more drastically defining features, such as skin tone, hair and eye color were added to the stable. To Wiraqocha men, these differences did not matter but Chiefs over the years would begin the tradition of making them their favored; some due to their _exotic_ appearance, some due to the idea that they were a gift from their gods and some, because unlike the natives to the area to whom the fate of becoming a Qayllar had been taught to them from birth, just liked the feeling of conquering men who believed themselves more civilized and intelligent than the savages they now served. To answer your question, the current Chief was between favors when Trevor's party arrived. As time goes on, more and more men will go missing attempting to master the Amazon jungle, only to find themselves enslaved to it. And yes, once DubCon became aware of the tribe (20 years later), I imagine they would begin using it as a convenient place to drop off men who they want to inflict a twisted fate to.
