> “Pollination: The Series.” A lot of the action there takes place in Garden City, Kansas. > Holy Attention-to-Detail, you're RIGHT! WHAT is my obsession with Kansas? Okay... when John Byrne revamped Superman in 1986, he identified (for the first time) Smallville to be in Kansas, and he did that by folding the map in half longways and shortways and Kansas was in the dead center. That's the best I got. Clearly, I think of Kansas as middle America. Maybe there's a grad-school thesis in here somewhere...

You left out one of my favorites: "Pollination: The Series." A lot of the action there takes place in Garden City, Kansas.

On reflection, I've realized Kansas appears in a lot of my stories. Here and THE NEW SUPERMEN as well as SUPERION'S home state in KING REX 2. What an odd affinity for a state I've only been to less than a handful of times.

> God, these Kansas chapters are just incredible–among the best things you’ve ever written in my opinion. > Thank you!!! High praise, indeed -- and that coming from a guy with 420 in his name! There were moments when writing this series that I felt I was really channeling FanTCdude. I think that these two "Kansas" chapters are really the best amalgamation of his style and mine -- he with the unapologetic masculine transformation and me with the sinister overtones to every goddamn thing. I really do think I capture his style here and that elevated my own writing. Thank you again, Hypnothrill -- this means a lot coming from you! (I'm thinking of doing a "Playing with..." using some of your stuff....) > I couldn’t agree more; it feels like the San Francisco chapters were just the setup for the real story > I've talked before about how much I love exposition. Ten chapters as a set-up is about right for me. Hahaha Here's an interesting fact: originally, the Kansas stuff was gonna be one chapter and an epilogue, but the epilogue kept getting longer and longer until I eventually broke it off and created two full chapters. These two chapters remain the most popular parts of the story. And I agree with you -- it would be easy to break and create a whole different series ("Kansas!") right here, which would probably be better than the "San Fran" stuff.

I couldn't agree more; it feels like the San Francisco chapters were just the setup for the real story. Fantastic!!

I hope you will revisit the "Extra" salon. Maybe some of these firemen could visit there?

Well done man. Great first story. Tons of great ideas. I find I like to write as fast as my imagination, but building some suspense, and staying in particular scenes a bit longer helps build the fantasy. Keep it up man, I love where you're taking it
